About us: From the Founder – Andrew Morgans
Marknology was founded almost by accident. It started 7 years ago, where at the time I was going through a divorce, was an e-commerce manager by day, and simply trying to find my way through life’s mess. I was in debt from the divorce, and researching ways that I could fix my finances. I had been reading in a blog about focusing your efforts on side hustle’s that further your career instead of just something that trades your time for dollars.
I found the popular freelancing sites, Elance and Upwork, and after a few hours my profile’s were set up. I was applying to all kinds of Amazon jobs, and would have 1 or 2 projects every weekend to work on. I was helping brands on Amazon figure out the various problems they would have and make several hundred dollars doing it.
Sometimes I would underbid the job, and it might take me 20 or 30 hours MORE than I had bid for the job. However I had given someone my word, and you are only as good as your WORD! Project by project my ratings went up on those freelancer sites, and my experience with Amazon was growing too. Instead of just learning how to fix one brands problems, I was learning more and more with each project I completed.
Before long, I was a top 10 freelancer on both Elance, and Upwork. I had worked with clients like Adidas, Nylabone and a host of others of similar caliber. International brands. A lightbulb went off in my head, if these brands don’t have someone in house that knows how to fix their Amazon problems, they are always going to need to hire this out.
While I was freelancing, I was also contemplating all of the things that made me happy personally as well. I needed to define who I was post marriage, and who I wanted to become if I had the choice. Things like travel, and family were at the top of my priorities, and with only two weeks a year to travel at my current job I needed a change.
Marknology as a company was born as I got more and more clients that asked me to work with them on a monthly basis to maintain their Amazon stores. Remember, that this is 6 or 7 years ago. NO ONE was focused on Amazon, and there were definitely not Amazon agencies, at least that I knew of. People were focused on Amazon, but for themselves, the industry didn’t exist that had Amazon experts servicing sellers or brand owners. I had already grown two companies by over a million dollars each year that I worked with them, I knew I could do it again, and this time for more than one company at a time.
The word Marknology, is really a mix of two words. Marketing and Technology. I believe that e-commerce sits in the middle of these two principals. You can be as creative as you want, but you also have to be technical to operate in ecommerce. I think my boss at the time used the phrase to describe our marketing department and technology department as one. I was researching names, and didn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a good domain, so I followed the likes of Uber and Nike, and created my own word. It was real cheap.
I was frustrated working for companies that didn’t listen to my ideas or strategy around ecommerce, and instead needed to pay for an expensive conference or consultant before they would come around to my suggestions. I decided early on that Marknology was going to be a company that did things the right way, that would stay committed to innovation, and would listen to every employee’s ideas regardless of that person’s status in the company or previous experience. Change has always been an easier thing for me than others, growing up in Africa taught me to think outside the box, seeing business owners be unable to change, motivated me to push into change even harder.
Marknology was going to focus on three things.

One thing I noticed early was that brands were not paying enough attention to “branding” on Amazon. I committed to know every inch of Amazon, so I could offer strategy to any brand that was facing challenges on the Amazon platform. This leveraged Marknology into an Amazon Branding Agency. Fast forward 7+ years, and Marknology is not only an Amazon Advertising Agency Partner, but has grown to a team of 26, and has managed over 250+ brands on the Amazon platform. Through our brand partners, we are selling on Amazon.uk,.de,.es,.it,.fr, .japan,.au, .ca, .mx, and .me (middle east)
